MS barbed wire is the same two-strand twisted construction as any barbed wire, drawn from plain mild steel without a zinc or PVC coating. Leaving the wire uncoated keeps the cost down, which is why it remains the choice for short-term fencing, temporary boundaries and sites where the fence will be replaced or upgraded before corrosion becomes a concern. Where it needs to last through open weather over years, galvanised or PVC coated wire is the better fit.
